What is Social
Learning?
According to the FT, traditional training only ever lands between 5% and 20% of the time. And it’s been proven time and time again that short-term educational interventions rarely work.
In fact, sometimes - in the case of dealing with attitudes and beliefs for example - it can have a detrimental effect, because people feel they’re being preached at, or told off.
The days of forcing people into cookie cutter professional types and making then ‘behave’ or ticking L&D boxes are over. That’s where Good Shout comes in. :-)
Albert Bandura’s Social Learning Theory is based on the philosophy that we learn through observing and imitating the behaviour of others. We do this whether we’re aware of it or not! That means regular practice group feedback and realistic simulations that allow you to play and try out new ways of communicating. Our groups hold each other accountable and give each other advice. They learn from each other, too.
In our sessions, everyone should consider themselves a role model, and understand how important they are in a social group. We always conduct classes in groups, and the different personalities are key. No two voices should sound the same, and no two people have the same history, so we take this into account with our teaching.
Online, we make our training feel social, too. Participants will always have the option to ask questions in our forum space, and get feedback from the Good Shout Community.
Our training is fully accessible, and CPD accredited, which demonstrates a dedication to professional development and significant learning outcomes.
Our sessions are designed for introverts AND extroverts, and every kind of brain! Neurodiversity has such a strong impact on how you communicate, and how you receive feedback We love people to share this with us up front, so that we can make sure our sessions feel good.
Social learning is honest, humble, generous, celebratory and self-aware. What a wonderful combination!
We have a motto at Good Shout:
“we are at your service”
From the second you start working with us, we make you feel like a main character. This is part of our mission to make learning lovely. You deserve to feel supported and heard, and that’s our role as teachers.
