About

Amy Kean

Amy Kean is a totally unique speaker and social psychologist with a weird imagination, tapped up by global events companies and journalists for her unparalleled insight and entertaining honesty.

Every good company has an origin story, and Good Shout is no exception!

Founded in 2022, Amy wanted to create a business that celebrates every voice, from every background, to ensure everybody feels heard at work.

And there’s a reason for this. When Amy left University with a first class degree in sociology, a recruitment consultant described her Essex accent as too “common” to be around “important people.” For many years, she believed him, and focused on staying quiet and blending in at work. That was ultimately unfulfilling and pretty unsuccessful, so she got louder.

Now, she’s a CEO, bestselling author, journalist, playwright, poet, Campaign Magazine trailblazer, LinkedIn Top Voice and inductee into the BIMA Hall of Fame with almost 100k followers across social media platforms.

The lesson?

Well, first of all, never let a recruitment consultant dictate your self-worth, but secondly any voice can be powerful, regardless of accent, pitch or perspective. Amy’s career has taken her to some of the world’s biggest ad agencies, working in the UK, the US and Asia, and in head of innovation roles she was constantly charged with driving big, impressive change for companies like Nando’s, Jean Paul Gaultier, Sony Music, Coty and Kimberly Clark. Her voice was critical in positioning her as an advertising leader, and in 2025 she was listed as the 3rd most influential person in marketing (even though she left the marketing industry 6 years ago!)

One important thing to know about Amy Kean is that she’s never been normal… and that’s a good thing.

When you refuse to get sucked into the norms of your industry or business, it means you can focus on making proper change.

The organisational psychologist Jonno Hannafin describes this as the sweet spot on the Perceived Weird Index (PWI): be so weird that people listen, but so accessible that people trust you. When you hit the sweet spot, you can do great things! And that’s why Good Shout is a challenger in the stale, tried and tested L&D space: because learning needs to provide a spark, not suck the life out of people.

As a justice-led social psychologist, Amy studies people for a living (with a Masters from LSE) and cares about them, too.

She has a love/hate relationship with humans, in fact. They have such amazing potential! But seem utterly intent on sabotaging themselves. Amy’s work helps people understand themselves and their role in social groups and society. She believes we have more in common than that which divides us, especially at work.

She’s not shy of loudly and creatively sharing her opinions, with appearances on Woman’s Hour and Radio Five Live

  • Her sold out 2023 London play GROUP was about the dark side of life coaching.

  • Her bestselling book, The Little Girl Who Gave Zero Fucks, was about what would happen if we all worried less (spoiler: life would be better).

  • Come to Amy with problems, for conference presentations, and an informed comment about the state of society.

  • Her current passion project is making sure the next generation of girls have a voice, with the recently-launched Good Shout for Girls initiative, offering free public speaking training to young women aged 13 to 16 in the UK.

“I refuse to settle for anything less than superb. I’m constantly pushing myself - and Good Shout - to be bolder, more creative, more interesting, and more effective.  I live like a human experiment, always trying to learn more and optimise. I think that’s what our clients love about us: that we’re never happy with just ok, and constantly make sure we deliver at least what we promised, but often more! Learning should be one of the best things about work and life, and at Good Shout that’s our benchmark.”

“We’re still talking about Amy’s talk, two weeks later. I’ve never seen a group of people get so emotional at work. That wasn’t just a speech, it was performance art. Thank you for delivering something we’ll never forget.”
